What is carbon steel plate?
Carbon steel is an alloy composed of iron and carbon. Several other elements are allowed in carbon steel, but the maximum percentages are lower. These elements are manganese with a maximum of 1.65%, silicon with a maximum of 0.60%, and copper with a maximum of 0.60%. Other elements may be present in too small amounts to affect their properties. The term "carbon steel" may also be used to refer to steel other than stainless steel; in this use, carbon steel may include alloy steel
We have one of the broadest inventories of carbon steel plates in the industry. Carbon steel sheets are rolled from continuously cast slabs or ingots to meet customer specifications and/or chemical composition requirements. Carbon sheets are available in the "rolled" or heat treated condition to primary dimensions or cut to size to the desired part profile
We are a supplier of carbon steel sheets such as structural steel sheets, high strength steel sheets, high yield steel sheets, boiler quality steel sheets, pressure vessel steel sheets and medium carbon steel sheets. We can supply carbon steel sheets cut to size, both narrow and wide. Our carbon steel sheet stock includes thicknesses from 3mm to 300mm and widths of 1250mm, 1500mm, 2000mm and 2500mm
low carbon/low carbon steel
benefit:Mild steel, also known as mild steel, contains between 0.14%-0.20% carbon. At Axis, this is the type of material we use the most because of its many benefits. Mild steel is easy to manufacture due to its low carbon content. Also, mild steel is more ductile than stainless steel and is very easy to weld. Mild steel is also much less expensive than stainless steel, and generally less expensive than aluminum. The material exhibits ductility and good heat transfer
shortcoming:Although mild steel is common, it needs to be galvanized to prevent corrosion. The susceptibility to corrosion makes mild steel unsuitable for marine environments or any environment that is in constant contact with water. Lastly, mild steel is generally lower in strength than stainless steel
High-carbon steel
benefit:High carbon steel is an alloy containing 0.60%-2.5% carbon. Due to the increased carbon content, the hardness of the material increases compared to stainless steel. Therefore, it is more durable than aluminum or stainless steel. It is less likely to warp, deform or scratch when exposed to heat or force. Finally, according to the grade, it is the cheapest material
shortcoming:However, high carbon steel also has some disadvantages. While high carbon content can lead to increased hardness, it can also lead to increased brittleness compared to stainless steel. Also, it is not resistant to corrosion. It needs to be painted or finished in some way, otherwise the material may rust or corrode
